What happens in a Spiritual Direction Session
Check-in and/or Brief Meditation
Upon your arrival I will check in to see how you are, what's currently on your mind and how you are feeling. It is my practice to light a candle as a reminder of Divine presence with us. We will then settle into our space and intentionally become aware of the present moment. I will offer an optional meditation. This may be a poem, scripture passage, song, or guided mental body scan. Some directees are ready to share immediately after the lighting of the candle and that's okay too. We will follow the leading of the Spirit.
The Majority of our time together
During most of our hour session I will provide compassionate listening, open-ended questions, and reflections of what I notice. Appropriate pauses will be facilitated for listening and noticing what is stirring inside of your mind, heart and body.
Closing our Time Together
I will offer a time to pause in the quiet for an opportunity to listen and reflect. As you let yourself settle (thoughts, words, images, ideas or invitations) something may float to the surface. What might be the take away for that days session? You may want a notebook handy to jot down what comes to you.

My Approach
My approach to spiritual direction may be described as Spirit led and eclectic. It is an art form that is also a spiritual discipline. I intentionally stay open to your faith experience, unique life circumstances and spiritual journey.
